Why Philanthropy Matters
In the acclaimed 2013 book Why Philanthropy Matters, Zoltan Acs explores philanthropy’s vital role and impact on the well-being of the world. Acs describes in eloquent detail how philanthropy boosts productivity and promotes vital forces like education for innovation and advancement. Acs further argues that philanthropy’s focus on health and the arts promotes the greater good while also serving as a positive example.
We love Acs’ book, and we couldn’t agree more. We are the lucky ones who get to witness philanthropy’s positive impact every day through our work with the Branford Community Foundation (BCF). Our mission—to connect people who care with the causes that matter to preserve and promote the quality of life in Branford—touches every vital aspect of our community. From the community kitchen to the Branford library to scholarships for high school seniors, the BCF provides a source of support and stability both now and for generations to come.
We are grateful to our many philanthropic citizens for helping Branford thrive and allowing us to better serve our community. We hope you will continue working with us! There are so many wonderful ways to give back:
- Donate to BCF’s General Fund in memory of a loved one, for example, or to honor an individual or group as a celebratory gift.
- Contribute to a Named Fund.
- Establish your own Fund.
