for-profit organizations and 170(c)(1) governmental agencies serving the Branford community and creating a positive impact within the areas of arts, basic needs, civic engagement, education,
environment, health, and youth. BCF seeks grants that enhance the quality of life in Branford. Grant
applications should address a need within the focus area and demonstrate impact on the organization,
project, community, or persons served.

In 2023, BCF awarded 25 grants through its competitive grant making process. These grants ranged
from $1000 to $8,000, with an average award of $3,400. The Board of Directors has prioritized the
following areas of focus for the 2024 grantmaking process: Basic needs, including food insecurity,
shelter, emergency financial assistance, childcare; Organizations and populations that are disparately
impacted and that BCF may not have previously supported; Mental health services, including
prevention, intervention, and substance misuse; Programs that create joy in the Branford community;
Child and youth development services; Grants that strive for a high impact in the Branford community.
The Community Investment Committee (CIC) of BCF is charged with reviewing the applications and
making recommendations for funding to the Board of Directors. The deadline to submit a completed
application to BCF for consideration for funding is March 15, 2024. Potential applicants are encouraged
to attend an information session held via zoom on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 10:00am. RSVP to
Amy Paris, Administrative Assistant, at aparis@branfordcommunityfoundation.org. A zoom link will be
provided to attendees. Organizations unable to attend the meeting are encouraged to contact Jennifer
Mullett, Program Director (jmullett@branfordcommunityfoundation.org) with questions about the grant
guidelines or application process prior to submitting a grant. Please note, BCF will not award grants to
debt reduction, endowments, individuals, lobbying, political organizations and campaigns, or to replace
government funding sources.

Grant award decisions will be announced by May 31, 2024. Grant awards cannot be used retroactively
to pay costs for programs or services that have occurred in the past. Applications from previous
grantees are welcome; continued funding will be considered by CIC but is not guaranteed. All final
reports from previously awarded grants must be provided prior to submission of a new grant.
