BCF Awards $11,500 for Arts & Culture
In 2014, the Branford Community Foundation (BCF) approved a $10,000 investment to the Legacy Theatre, a professional theatre company located in Stony Creek. The Legacy Theatre will be housed in the Stony Creek Puppet House, and plans to host two productions each spring and fall as well as other shows and classes throughout the year. BCF’s grant will be used to repair the roof of the Stony Creek Puppet House. The entire building was condemned and is in need of complete rehabilitation. The funds match grants from the CT Trust for Historic Preservation and the 1772 Foundation.
BCF also approved a $1,500 grant to Shoreline Arts Alliance to support a free presentation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth at the James Blackstone Memorial Library. The show was held on April 12, 2014, as part of the celebration of the 450th birthday of William Shakespeare — an opportunity used to educate and entertain the Branford community.
“The Branford Community Foundation is committed to supporting the diverse needs of the Branford Community, and we are delighted to support critical funding for the arts,” says Eunice LaSala, Board President. “These programs not only improve our quality of life by providing excellent theatre, they also encourage tourism and civic pride.”
The Branford Community Foundation’s next application deadline for funding requests is on June 31, 2013. Click here for more information on the grant application process.
